(FORT PIERCE,Fla.) - Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS) will hold its first annual Season of Giving Health Fair on December 2, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce, Florida. The event aims to provide the local community with access to vital health screenings, legal advice, and other resources.
The fair will feature 16 vendors offering free diabetic screenings, blood pressure checks, HIV health information, and legal assistance. Participating organizations include Aetna Insurance Group, Florida Blue Health Insurance, Lions Club of Port St. Lucie, and the St. Lucie County Fire Department, among others.
Attendees will also have the chance to support the Treasure Coast Food Bank by donating non-perishable food items. In exchange for their donations, participants will be entered into a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, including Publix gift cards, gift baskets, and a holiday ham.
"The goal of this event is to bring together resources and empower our community, particularly those in need during the holiday season," said Veronica Tillman, a paralegal at FRLS and the event organizer. "We want to provide support, connect individuals with essential services, and bring people together in the spirit of generosity."
As the holiday season can be a challenging time for many families, FRLS hopes the event will offer much-needed resources while fostering a sense of unity and support within the community.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Florida Rural Legal Services website or contact the organization directly.
