(WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.) — Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS) held an in-person Board meeting on Saturday, June 16, to review the non-profit law firm's quarterly updates and discuss future initiatives.
The Board convened with FRLS staff to discuss progress in various ongoing projects, including administrative efforts, Pro Bono initiatives, the LITC site visit, key grant acquisitions, industry conference participation, and the organization's budget.
Interim Executive Director Iola Mosley shared that a three-year strategic plan had been developed with input from staff, Board members, and a third-party consultant. Mosley declared 2024 as the "Year of Reset," emphasizing FRLS's commitment to reconnecting with allied agencies and community partners to further enhance the organization's brand and mission.
Each legal aid organization functions under the leadership of a non-profit board of directors, the governing body of the organization. Each organization's board of directors is established based on its bylaws, and those who are elected jointly govern the organization. Board members generally see themselves as ambassadors of their organizations and work together to accomplish the organization's mission.
The Board's meeting underscored the ongoing dedication of FRLS to providing free civil legal assistance to low-income families and elderly individuals across thirteen South Central Florida counties. The organization remains focused on advancing its efforts and expanding its impact in the community.
