(RIVIERA BEACH, Fla.) — Anitra Moss, Riviera Beach Office and Client Care Manager for FRLS- Florida Rural Legal Services, participated in the NeighborWorks Florida Community Leadership Institute on August 15-16.
The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, brought together residents, youth, affordable housing advocates, financial coaches, and community leaders.
NeighborWorks Florida and Community Partners of South Florida extended the invitation to Moss. Workshops covered a range of topics, including affordable housing development and community building and engagement.
"Being in a room with strategic thought leaders is always empowering and a privilege," Moss said.
She emphasized the impact of the community building workshops, stating, "I was reminded of the strength that lies within the communities FRLS serves. In our engagement, we should focus on the assets of the community and individuals, helping them discover their gifts while we assist them in developing their stability plans."
Moss highlighted the networking opportunities the conference provided, allowing her to connect with community leaders and advocates from across Florida. She also noted that the event offered insights into additional techniques FRLS can employ to better connect with the communities it serves.
The institute aimed to foster collaboration and share strategies for community development and engagement among diverse stakeholders in Florida's affordable housing and community service sectors.
The Community Leadership Institute gathers residents, youth, affordable housing and construction representatives, bankers, investors, and municipal leadership in a collaborative space to listen, learn, and share from expert trainers and each other.
