(WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.)- Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. is proud to announce that its acting managing attorney for the Belle Glade Office, Zade Shamsi-Basha, has been selected for the Nonprofits First Advancing Leaders Program, an enrichment program that provides access to tools and resources to help sustain current leaders and develop today’s nonprofit professionals into tomorrow’s trusted leaders.
"I am honored to take part in this course and look forward to developing new skills that are not part of the day-to-day practice of law, like strategic planning, financial management, program development, team building, and stakeholder engagement," said Shamsi-Basha.
The Advancing Leaders program consists of 6 full-day sessions, monthly from late February to July, which are presented by regional and national expert instructors, and will conclude with an evening graduation and reception.
The program uses didactic instruction and panel discussions to drill down into the hard knowledge and skills needed for upper management, including governance, data-driven leadership, finances and budgeting, HR laws and practices, development (including topics around fundraising and grant-writing as well as communicating the organization’s mission and successes), and strategic leadership and innovation.
"With the right skills, we can make a more significantimpact in the lives of those we serve and the communities we support," said Shamsi-Basha.
