Wauchula Disaster Relief Event
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. - Noon
Location: 807 Cobb Court, Wauchula, FL 33873
Resources delivered to Wauchula, Fla.
Storm victims, who are living in already chronically poor neighborhoods at the heart of Florida’s agricultural industry, in the southwestern part of the state, are in desperate need of disaster relief resources but some are reluctant to seek aid or don't qualify for federal disaster assistance.
Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (FRLS) and community partners mobilized relief efforts for Hurricane Ian survivors in Wauchula who are struggling.
Here's what was offered:
The Wauchula Disaster Relief event brought various social services, governmental agencies, and community non-profit organizations directly to the farm-working community.
"Much of the rebuilding in Florida after Hurricane Ian will be done by migrant workers, but many of them right now feel overlooked by relief efforts," reports WUSF.
